The big weekend of US Games Day/Golden Demon '99 is fast approaching and this issue of White Dwarf has all of the information that you need to take part. Need ticket applications? We got 'em. Want to find out what events will be running at this two-day Games Workshop bonanza? There's a complete list. Need to know how big your Golden demon entry can be? That's there too! So check out this informative article to learn all that you need to know to get involved!!! Every year at Games Day we always get tons of requests about how we made the awesome-looking scenery tables that we use for the event. Well, we finally convinced our resident scenery master: Kenny Goodman, to reveal some of his secrets in this great new article. If you want to see how Kenny manages to crank out such great-looking stuff so quickly, Kenny's Ten Day Workout will be your very own personal trainer for the answers. For those Warhammer 40,000 players who are a little confused about the close combat system in the new edition of 40K, White Dwarf #232 has an excellent guide for answering the most frequently asked questions we've been receiving. There is also plenty of Q&A as well as new rules for Smoke and Blind Grenades for canny Commanders. ************ NEW RELEASES Battlefleet Gothic New Releases Many of you might remember the old Space Fleet game, and the promise to one day make it into a much bigger game - that day is here! Set during a major Chaos incursion into Imperial space, the game includes full rules for the Chaos and Imperial fleets, plus rules for Ork and Eldar raiding fleets. You also get campaign rules as well, to stretch games into linked settings and work in ship & crew improvements (and damage!). The game comes complete with Rulebook, counters, dice, range rulers, playsheets, and 8 incredible new plastic ship sprues which can be assembled into a variety of the large Imperial and Chaos Cruisers (including Gothic class cruisers, of course!). 0005 Battlefleet Gothic (big box game) $59.99 We also have a full assortment of ships coming too, of course, for Imperial and Chaos fleets. In future months, look for Eldar and Ork ships, plus escort and transport ships, system defense ships, and more. We're planning to introduce even more rules and fleets in White Dwarf as well, so keep your scopes peeled for more there! Fleet Fun Facts: Know your terms! For all you landlubbers out there, "Port" is left (easy to remember, as they have the same number of letters), and "Starboard" is right. "Prow" is the front of the ship, and "Aft" is to the rear. The "Keel" of a ship is along the bottom, and "Dorsal" is along the top. "Cheesey" is when you take 4 or more Nova Cannon in your fleet . "Naming ships for Battlefleet gothic. 1. Go to your favorite word processor. 2. Change the font to Gothic (or whatever you like). 3. Type a list of ship names you like. 4. Print the list. 5. Cut out the names. 6. Using cellophane tape, tape the paper slip to the underside of the base so that the name shows through the clear plastic. Doesn't work to well if you paint your bases black though... That's it, Mike" Some of the guys here have done to convert up Assault Boats for Chaos: use the eyepiece from the Culexus Assassin, and attach it to the Epic 40K Space Marine Dreadnought power fist claw bit. Makes great Assault Boats, just mount them on pins and glue them to Epic bases! Epic 40K offers lots of cool bits to use in Gothic actually - I'm working on some Eldar fighters, bombers, and torpedoes using bits like Epic Eldar Wraithlord heads, Night Spinner turrets, Scorpion turrets, and support platform weapons. Got any cool tips you'd like to share with your fellow gamers? Send 'em in for next month's newsletter! For more info on any of the above, call 1-800-492-8820 or email us at: I am head of the GWUS Customer Service Department, and our phone number is 1-800-492-8820.
